Grace, Replaced (Season 1, Episode 18)

Being a memorable guest star is one thing, but getting nominated for an Emmy Award for that role is another story. Molly Shannon’s character Val made a comeback in the latest Will & Grace reboot and earned an Emmy nomination, but she made her debut as the crazy neighbour back in the show’s first season.

Grace has been busy with work and doesn’t have as much time to spend with Will as she usually does. He ends up finding a “replacement” Grace, his new neighbor Val. The two start getting closer, and Will loves Val’s sense of humor, but Grace worries that soon she’ll be replaced. The new duo are even a great team for game night with their friends Rob and Ellen, which is usually Will and Grace’s thing.

Will comes down with the flu, and Grace rushes from work to comfort him, only to find out that Val is already over there making “Sicky” some soup to make him feel better. With Will and Grace’s codependent relationship, Grace couldn’t let Will replace her.

The two women end up in a full-blown catfight in front of Will, which starts with them literally ripping each other’s blouses off before Grace jumps on Val’s back. Will breaks the two up, and assures Grace that she can never be replaced.

Even though Grace and Val makeup, Val comes back in later episodes to prove just how crazy she is.
