John Krasinski could have been Captain America and it would have been way different

In a time when John Krasinski was everyone’s love as Jim Halpert on the Office, he auditioned to be Steve Rogers, and that’d be quite different.

We know now that John Krasinski has the ability to get superhero ripped. But back in the good old days of The Office, he was our skinny favorite who was gangly and always had a sarcastic joke. So it is weird to think of him as every taking on Steve Rogers. Especially as he was still Jim Halpert at the time and that would mean the end to Pam and Jim.

Don’t worry though, Krasinski wasn’t too broken up about it. In a recent interview with Variety, Krasinski was promoting his new show Jack Ryan, but brought up how he felt about not getting to take on the shield.

Apparently, as soon as his agent told him that they went with Chris Evans, Krasinski understood.

“My agent called and said, ‘They’re going to go with Chris Evans,’” he said in the interview. “And I remember I said, ‘Yeah, look at him. He’s Captain America.’”

According to the interview, his wife, Emily Blunt, offered to cancel their dinner plans after the bummer news. Despite all that, Krasinski said to her, “It’s Chris Evans. Of course, we’re going to dinner.” To be honest, Krasinski’s acceptance makes us love him that much more.

Although, he isn’t the only one who’s talked about losing the role to Chris Evans. Evans also beat out Sebastian Stan for the role who, of course, ended up with playing Bucky Barnes. In the end, it looks like things worked out for everyone, even Krasinski.

With projects like an apparent Quiet Place 2 and the Jack Ryan series, it seems as though Krasinski is fine despite not landing the role of Steve Rogers. If he had landed Captain America, we probably wouldn’t have had the resolution to Jim Halpert and Pam Beesly’s relationship on The Office and honestly, that is just unacceptable.

What an interesting life we could have had with Krasinski taking on Captain America’s mantle. But hey, who knows what the future holds. I hear DC is still looking for their Hal Jordan.
