Lucas and Peyton – One Tree Hill

Their love story: From the very first episode, One Tree Hill established these two as the “it couple.” Their chemistry was undeniable from the moment Lucas rescued Peyton from the side of the road with a broken-down car. Their high school romance was fraught with trouble, however, and they broke up and got back together more times than I can count on my fingers.

One of the major obstacles to their relationship was Lucas’s fling with Peyton’s best friend Brooke. I always rooted for these two, anyway, but it never really felt like they were long-game.

Did they or didn’t they: It took a while, but these two did. After both of them were in serious relationships, they finally found their way back to each other.  Lucas was even engaged to some rando nobody cared about and lived in an entirely different state during the five years between seasons 8 and 9.

Their relationship (and the series itself) culminated and ultimately ended with Peyton having Lucas’ baby. As I said, they were always the couple to watch, and the show spent a lot of energy trying to keep us guessing about their future together. You can’t get much more permanent than a baby.

How to watch it unfold: Although the series started out as a high school drama, it didn’t really get any good (if you ask me) until they were long out of school. Of course, you’re going to have to slog through five seasons of high school antics before you get a four-year-fast forward. But Hulu has them all, so you better get to it.
