Ted and Robin – How I Met Your Mother

Their love story: Ted and Robin were a long game, from the beginning. Fans of the show could see their chemistry a mile away, even if Ted was insufferable and Robin was too obstinate for her own good. What started as a romance, turned platonic for a while, then back to romantic, then just friends again, and then wound up with a lot of unresolved feelings. It was a confusing and frustrating experience for fans of the show.

Did they or didn’t they: Ultimately, they did, but it took such a convoluted path, it almost wasn’t worth the trouble. The show, as audiences know all too well, was told in two different timelines. While Robin and Ted struggle to figure out their crap in the present and marry other people, we come to find out that they get together in the future. Robin is not, however, the mother of Ted’s two children. The mother died of some terrible disease. It was very convenient that Robin and Barney’s marriage didn’t work out, and it cleared the way for them to get together. It’s kinda gross that we had to deal with cancer and the destruction of a 20-year friendship just to see them together.

How to watch it unfold: Hulu has all nine seasons. However, some critics (this one included) feel like this show went on long after it should have and wore out it’s welcome to audiences. If you’re so inclined, watch the first five seasons and then just skip right to the finale. It will save a lot of guessing and disappointments.
