Warner Bros released their Fantastic Beasts Comic-Con trailer today revealing connections to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Everyone hoped, and then predicated, a Fantastic Beasts Comic-Con trailer would be released today and they were spot on. Warner Bros unveiled the latest trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald in Hall H and key eyed Harry Potter fans are already seeing the connections to Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Connections to Harry Potter in Fantastic Beasts are nothing new. The series is after all a prequel of some sorts to the original franchise. In the first Fantastic Beasts movie there were plenty of connections that could be made and it’s expected to continue with the remaining Fantastic Beasts movie.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone connections
Did you spot the two connections?
Well, if not your first connection can be found at 1:35. Dumbledore can be seen looking into a mirror at his reflection with Gellert Grindelwald hovering over his reflection. That mirror, is the Mirror of Erised. The very same mirror Harry came across in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Why does Dumbledore see Grindelwald? We can speculate on that later?
Harry: “What do you see when you look in the mirror ?”

Dumbledore: “I? I see myself holding a pair of thick, woollen socks.”
“It was only when he was back in bed that it struck Harry that Dumbledore might not have been quite truthful”

Your next connection is at the very end of the Fantastic Beasts Comic-Con trailer at 2:51. Poor Jacob thinks he is talking to a ghost when in actual fact it’s Nicholas Flamel; the famed alchemist and friend of Albus Dumbledore.
We were introduced to Nicholas in the Sorcerer’s Stone. We never met Nicholas of course but it was his stone, the stone that gave him everlasting life, which Voldemort was trying to steal.
Why has Nicholas Flamel been brought into the Fantastic Beasts series? Another question we will speculate on later.
