Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Before he was the god of war in Wonder Woman, David Thewlis came into our lives as the beloved Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter series. You can probably imagine all of our concerns when Lupin was suddenly the bad man behind World War I and, eventually, World War II.

In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, fans were finally introduced to one of the most beloved and honored aspects of the series: The Marauders. Consisting of Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, James Potter, and Peter Pettigrew, the Marauders were friends during their time at Hogwarts until Peter turned against everyone to follow Lord Voldemort.

The series doesn’t focus on their friendship, but that doesn’t mean that fans don’t love them. They’re incredible and some of the best parts of Harry’s life. He turns to Remus when he needs advice and help, Sirius is his father figure, and then there is Peter, who is basically the worst.

Thewlis’s performance as Remus is so lovable that you forget he’s the wrong age for the series. He’s perfect and brings a light to a character who struggles almost as much as Harry does throughout his life.

To go from Remus to Ares is quite the stretch, but somehow, Thewlis makes it work both times.
