Fantastic Beasts images are coming out thick and fast and one image has caused a stir amongst the Harry Potter fandom.

It’s been a week of Fantastic Beasts for Harry Potter fans. First came the image of Newt Scamander and his famous never ending suitcase. Then came the image of a young Newt attending Hogwarts. Then came the final image of Newt and Jacob meeting a mysterious new friend.

Each image tells its own little story and has excited the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts fandom in its own way. But the image of Newt while at Hogwarts has also caused a bit of a stir as fans may have spotted a potential plot hole.

More from Harry Potter

The exclusive image shows Newt Scamander in his youth attending a class at Hogwarts being taught by Professor Dumbledore.

Comparisons have been drawn to the time in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban when Professor Lupin taught how to fight a Boggart. The problem with this is fighting against a Boggart is a Defence Against the Dark Arts class.

So why is Professor Dumbledore teaching this class? He was the Transfiguration Professor before becoming Headmaster.

So what is going on? Has Fantastic Beasts created a plot hole?

Maybe; maybe not.

Professor Dumbledore was the Transfiguration Professor, there is no disputing that. It was explained many times in the Harry Potter series that he was, and there is plenty of material to back it up.

If Fantastic Beasts has decided to change this, then yes they have created a plot hole. However there are other possibilities.

It might not be a Defence Against the Dark Arts class. The image may draw comparisons and remind us off Lupins class and the Boggart, but it could just be a regular Transfiguration lesson.

The classroom does cause an issue; it is clearly the Defence Against the Dark Arts Classroom in Harry Potter, but that doesn’t mean it was when Dumbledore taught. There is nothing, or at least nothing known, saying that the classrooms are set for certain classes.

Another option is Dumbledore is filling in. Snape filled in for Lupin once, maybe Dumbledore is just filling in here.

There are lots of possibilities to what is going on in this image but what do you think is going on? Has a plot hole happened? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
