Incredibles 2

This may be the most recent addition to the Pixar sequels capsule, but that doesn’t make its impact any less powerful. Once again, fans had to wait a whopping 14 years before getting to see what happens to the Parr family, who finally came out to fight crime after years of being in hiding.

Unlike all the other Pixar sequels, Incredibles 2 takes place right where the first one left off. Like, literally, moments after the first movie ended. After a high-profile fight against a villain destroys their town, the Parr family are forced back into hiding in a dingy motel, but a powerful businessman approaches Elastigirl, Mr. Incredible, and Frozone with an interesting (and lucrative) opportunity to bring superheroes back into the spotlight.

This time around, though, it’s Helen who gets to be out front and center, and it makes Bob feel less-than-incredible. He tries not to be jealous when Elastigirl gets to be out on the streets, fighting crime with all new gadgets, and he’s stuck at home on daddy duty. To make things even more stressful, baby Jack Jack has developed powers. Unlike the rest of the family, he has a whole library of different abilities, but he can’t control any of them. This leads to him sneaking out of the house, combusting into flames, and turning into a monster.

Critics have been generally pleased with the sequel, saying that while it may not live up to the original film, it’s still a great movie that comes close enough in quality to earn a spot with the best, with a 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
