Pikachu gets a Funko Pop!, giving us a new way to catch every Pokémon

Pikachu is everywhere, but now, the most famous Pokémon of them all has taken on a new form: a Funko Pop! that’ll be for sale this month.

Funko makes Pop! collections based on both anime and video games. And yet the biggest property of them all that crosses between those two categories hasn’t had a single Pop! made. We’re talking, of course, about Pokémon.

That, however, changes starting later this month. Today, Funko officially announced that it’s now licensed to make Pop! versions of Pokémon. Leading off the collection is Pikachu. What other Pokémon could maybe be as exciting?

(Don’t worry, we have suggestions about that.)

First, though, let’s take a look at the Mouse Pokémon:

Yes, you’ll only be able to buy it at Target, but to lessen the sting, this will come out this very month. This one seems like it could sell particularly fast.

As for other Pokémon that seem to be likely candidates for the Pop! line, Eevee and its evolutions are an easy set; that’s nine distinct Pop!s right there, and even if some people only collect their favorite, that’s still an additional sale for Funko and The Pokémon Company. Additionally, the nine wouldn’t overlap too closely with Nintendo’s amiibo collection. That’s probably not a huge concern anyway, but it is something to keep in mind when it comes to making your wishlist.

That doesn’t mean that overlap isn’t completely impossible. After all, amiibo and Pop!s are two distinct lines. Besides that, Mewtwo Pop! seems almost inevitable, and a Charizard might not be far behind. For a cuter, more Pikachu-like Pop!, Mew would also make a good choice.

Next: Pokémon GO makes a lot of money

While there are a lot of Pokémon out there, it seems likely that Funko will focus on the most popular ones. Even so, it’s hard not to hope for Pokémon like Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, or even Mimikyu to get some love as well.
