The 100 season 5 episode 9 preview: Sic Semper Tyrannis

The conflict that has been building throughout this season of The 100 will escalate in “Sic Semper Tyrannis,” even without Octavia present.

Anyone who thought removing Octavia from the picture would slow things down on The 100 is likely to be proven wrong tonight. If the preview is anything to go by, “Sic Semper Tyrannis” looks as action-packed as every other episode — perhaps, even more so.

Watch the promo for tonight’s episode here:

Trouble for Wonkru

The preview opens with grim words from Indra: “These may be her final hours.” She’s clearly speaking of Octavia, and the shot of Bloodreina motionless in bed confirms it. Given that Bellamy only intended to put her in a coma, we doubt that Octavia is actually gone for good.

Still, Indra’s words don’t bode well for Octavia or Wonkru. Fans will likely be crossing their fingers that she eventually wakes up for the remainder of the season. And her followers will need to make difficult decisions in choosing a new leader to follow.

The promo then shifts to a shot of Diyoza stepping out of her ship. It’s possible she’s meeting with Bellamy and Clarke to seal the terms of their deal. As usual, she looks fierce and prepared for anything they throw her way.

We also get a glimpse of Bellamy speaking to a woman, telling her that “This is how we save my friends.” There’s a good chance that this is Diyoza. She’s likely to be surprised at the lengths to which Bellamy went to rescue his people. If she questioned Echo’s loyalty as a spy, she’ll surely be questioning the loyalty of someone who poisoned his own sister to achieve peace.

Problems within the valley

The trailer also suggests that the conflict between Diyoza and McCreary will escalate during this episode. We get a clip of Raven saying, “You want to weaken the enemy? What’s weaker than an enemy at war with itself?” While she speaks, there are also shots of McCreary being taken down while the prisoners fight among themselves.

Viewers have known a showdown between McCreary and Diyoza was coming, but it’ll be interesting to see how things play out. With characters like Raven and Murphy wrapped up in the future of Eligius, it may be better if Diyoza remains in charge. But when does The 100 ever end in its characters’ favor?

Madi’s future

Toward the end of the promo, there’s also a brief image of Gaia holding up the flame. We know she’s been waiting for the “time of the commanders” to return, so she may take advantage of Octavia’s absence. If she does suggest Madi as Wonkru’s new leader, Clarke is not going to be a happy camper.

And with that in mind, the preview ends with Clarke holding up a gun. It doesn’t show us who she’s pointing it at, but Gaia definitely seems to be a contender. If Madi’s safety is in jeopardy, there’s a good chance Wanheda will be making a return to the show.
