Kevin Feige says it’s possible Ghost could make a return in the MCU

Despite Ghost’s story in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Kevin Feige says Ghost could be here to stay. So how else might she return?

Warning! This story contains spoilers for Ant-Man and the Wasp.

We can’t say that Ant-Man and the Wasp had the best Marvel villain to date, but Ghost was certainly an interesting character with a new perspective. While it seemed that she was done with her wrongdoings by the end, it’s still possible for her to make a comeback in later MCU movies.

This was revealed by the big Marvel Studios man himself, Kevin Feige, in an interview with Birth.Movies.Death. When asked about how they decide which bring characters back, Feige said the factors to deciding who they keep and who gets the boot really varies from character to character.

But Ghost was different from the others, according to Feige who said: “In this case, the story was always to keep her around. This was not the story of defeating a villain and everybody cheering. This is a different kind of villain story.”

For the most part, the Marvel Studios president said that small-character returns depend on if they’re a fan favorite or not. If they get a lot of supportive feedback, they’re all for bringing them back. Take Shuri, for instance, who Feige said was a great example of that. We can’t forget Loki, too, who became such a fan favorite that Marvel just couldn’t seem to kill him off (until Infinity War, that is).

So could Ghost be the new Loki as the fan-favorite villain-turned-antihero? That certainly could be one way Marvel takes it. Seeing as Ghost only pestered Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne because she wanted to cure herself with their technology, there doesn’t seem to be too many other reasons why she might return as a villain.

More likely, she could return as an antihero of sorts who just fights to get by, maybe helping a few people along the way. Rumors have been abuzz about a Thunderbolts movie, which would revolve around a Suicide Squad-like team of villains looking for redemption, so it’d be a treat to see her back in action that way.

As for Ant-Man and the Wasp 3, given that Ghost has a semi-redeemable moment in the sequel, it doesn’t seem likely that she would be the antagonist once again. But she could always help Scott and Hope out… once Hope returns from being dust, that is.
