Thanos-appreciation subreddit will ban half its users because of course it would

Users in a subreddit dedicated to Thanos are getting a taste of their own medicine as administrators approved a plan to wipe half of its users. Sound familiar?

Oh, that cruel, sweet irony has come around in one of the most surprising ways for one MCU-themed subreddit community. And really, it’s hard to think that no one saw something like this coming.

The users in the Thanos Did Nothing Wrong subreddit are now poised to be banned one-by-one in a sweeping mass-elimination that’s practically right off of the pages of Infinity Wars’ script. Yes, just like in the plan they so idealized, they will now be a part of its questionable ideology.

This “snappening” (you know, like a “snap happening”) was announced by Redditor The-Jedi-Apprentice in a post that quickly drew attention from not only its users, but people outside of the community as well. The moderator announced it on Tuesday, with a foreboding title heralding in all caps: “THE ADMINS GAVE ME PERMISSION TO BAN HALF OF THE SUB ON JULY 9.”

The moderator elaborated on that scary warning by writing:

"As you all know, I was in talks with one of the admins of Reddit… and I now have their permission to ban half of the sub! The random 50% ban will take place on July 9. The admins are designing a bot for me that will allow me to do the job in a quick and easy manner. So, be patient, and thank you all for your support."

Now, the subreddit is preparing for the apocalypse as they await their day of reckoning. A quick peek into the thread will show that no one really seems fearful of the random ban, but rather some are actually looking forward to being taken away be the theoretical Reddit Thanos.

And how else can one celebrate on Reddit than by posting memes? Some of which even show that users are willing to sacrifice themselves for the greater good.

"No more lurking in the shadows. from thanosdidnothingwrong"

"How everyone is feeling when Banos is here soon from thanosdidnothingwrong"

"Ban Me from thanosdidnothingwrong"

"Every other subreddit on July 9th from thanosdidnothingwrong"

So even though the ban is imminent, it looks like these Redditors couldn’t be happier to get banned from a subreddit. Some are already deciding where they’ll go in the Reddit after-life. And pages like r/SoulWorld are already looking to be a place where the lost souls of those banned users can rest in peace.

Next: Could Infinity War could new cut with more Thanos?

Will you join the subreddit before the Thanos bot strikes and extracts its vengeance? Who knows, maybe r/Avengers will swoop in and save the day before (or after) it’s too late!
