Could Infinity War could get a whole new cut with more Thanos?

Eager to know more about Thanos and his backstory? A rumored special cut in debate may or may not reveal more about the big purple guy.
The internet is in a frenzy right now trying to figure out if one Avengers: Infinity War character could get more screentime in a new cut of the film. No, it’s not you, Captain America. Not you, Loki. Sorry, Bucky, not you either.
The real character in question who could get more screentime is (drumroll, please)… Thanos! Because if there wasn’t enough Thanos in Infinity War before, there surely could be if the movie gets a new cut.
This bit of info comes from Jim Starlin, who created Thanos’ character, in a panel at Las Vegas Comic Con hosted by Collider‘s Jon Schnepp. As Schnepp recounts, Starlin was very hands-on with the movies’ creation. But just before the films’ release, Starlin got a call saying a lot of Thanos’ backstory, unfortunately, had to get cut out of the movie — up to about 30 minutes worth of footage. But, according to Schnepp and Starlin, that footage could find its way back into the film.
“Jim Starlin said he found out that they’re actually going to put it into a special edition of Avengers: Infinity War,” Schnepp said. He speculated that the extended Thanos cut might not make in on to the Infinity War home release, but it could be released as a separate version perhaps before Avengers 4.
A supposed leak of the home release bonus features has already been put out this week and makes no direct mention that points to more Thanos. Anton Volkov on Twitter supposedly found a German version of the features that he translated into English. So Schnepp could be correct, but some evidence suggests otherwise.
MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad rounded up his own evidence that would make it seem like Starlin might have been led astray. Conrad claims that Thanos’ backstory was never even filmed in the first place, with those scenes being cut out of the script. In Collider‘s defense, Schnepp tweeted that he was only relaying what Starlin had said to the audience at the con.
So, was there some miscommunication with Starlin about what was going on with Thanos? Did Starlin get a prank call about the movie a la Donald Trump? Or are the directors of Infinity War being secretive about what’s to come? (You know Joe and Anthony Russo love surprises.)

Either way, we can take or leave an extended cut of Infinity War with Thanos. Can we all just agree that they should revive Heimdall and make an all-new cut where he lives and saves the day?
