Jurassic Park (Laura Dern)

Look it wouldn’t be complete without talking about Jurassic Park. Laura Dern is in The Last Jedi and that means we get to talk a little bit about Ellie Sattler. The character who spawned a generation of female botonists, Ellie went to the Isla Nublar and was amazed by the dinosaurs she saw there.

Obviously, we’ve all at least heard of Jurassic Park. The movie is actually pretty terrifying, even as adults. The T-Rex is so real and the Velociraptors in the kitchen will always give us nightmares. Ellie Sattler is maybe one of the best parts of the movie too.

She is a strong character who managed to save everyone and escape the island in one piece. She isn’t a damsel in distress and, when Hammond throws sexism at her, she rolls her eyes and continues on her way.

Throughout the movie, it is clear that everyone is on an even playing field. Which is what makes it so perfect. The men aren’t really that in charge and Ellie isn’t pushed to the side because she’s a woman. They are just all trying to survive and they’re willing to do whatever necessary to make sure they all make it out in one piece.
