Pacific Rim Uprising (John Boyega)

One the greatest things about John Boyega is that he liked the first Pacific Rim movie so much that he had to be in the second. And he made it work! Pacific Rim: Uprising is honestly a pretty good sequel to a movie that didn’t necessarily need a sequel.

The problem with Uprising is that it came from a place of wanting to take on more of a story that was wrapped up. The last we saw of these characters, they had defeated the Kaiju and closed up the gate that was going to bring them into the world.

So what exactly would a sequel entail? John Boyega plays the son of Idris Elba, a casting that should have happened years ago. The movie takes place ten years after the first and follows everyone just trying to survive in a world without the Kaiju.

Obviously there are some big issues as we see in the trailer that the Kaiju do, in fact, return, but how they come back and how everyone reacts is very different than what we would have imagined going into the movie.

It is honestly a pretty good movie and Scott Eastwood and John Boyega aren’t bad to look at.
