In a world where Benicio Del Toro has to play characters dealing with drug cartels, one of the best movies of his career comes in the form of Traffic. His first Oscar nomination, it was a movie that put Benicio Del Toro on the map.

Granted, everyone knows who he is now but back then, he seemingly came out of nowhere and showed us all the emotion he can bring on screen. A movie about the corruption of the drug world as well as those trying to take them down, it is a movie filled with people that we know as the heavy hitters in Hollywood.

It is a great introduction to Benicio Del Toro and his world of acting. He’s incredible because he isn’t exactly one of those actors you instantly think of for a role. But the minute that he is in a film, you couldn’t imagine anyone else playing that part.

Traffic gave that to us and it is also what gave Benicio Del Toro an Oscar win for Best Supporting Actor. The film was nominated for Best Picture but didn’t take home that Oscar but the director, Stephen Soderbergh, took home his own Academy Award as well.
