25 favorite ’80s and ’90s teenage heartthrobs and what they’re doing now

Joseph Gordon-Levitt
What made him a heartthrob: Audiences first met JGL when he played a sarcastic teenage alien with magnificent hair on 3rd Rock From the Sun. However, we couldn’t fully appreciate his nerd appeal until he played the sensitive sidekick, Cameron in 10 Things I Hate About You. Outside of Heath Ledger, he was absolutely the best thing about that movie.
He went on to become an indie darling, and if you didn’t relate to (500) Days of Summer, you should check your heart. He epitomized anyone what has ever had their heart broken, and that is still my go-to break up move.
What he’s doing now: He’s a busy, working actor, acting in some of the last decade’s blockbuster. Some of note, include The Dark Knight Rises, Inception, The Interview, Sin City, and Don Jon. He’s also a benefactor and patron for up and coming artists through his website HitRecord.com.
Joseph’s best: A quick check to Wikipedia or IMDb will reveal all sorts of gems to watch, I happen to like his guest turn on The Mindy Project the best. Check him out as Matt Sherman in season 4 of the Hulu series. Also, and no less entertaining, is his bit on Jimmy Fallon’s Lip Sync Battle. Look it up.
