Edward Furlong

What made him a heartthrob: The fact that he didn’t really seem to care if you liked him or not. Oh, and Terminator for sure. Edward Furlong burst on the scene as a young teen, and America was certainly captivated at how beyond his years he seemed. He cursed and smoked and totally held his own alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Terminator.

He worked consistently through the ’90s, but it was his personal life that made headlines. He became known for his hard partying and penchant for substance. Before we knew how bad things were for him, this bad boy image made all the ladies swoon. But he soon became known as a sad case, and America traded in their heart-eyes for pity.

What he’s doing now: He’s starred in a few movies that weren’t on anyone’s radar. Sadly, he’s still grappling with addiction and legal issues and continues to bounce in and out of rehab and court.

Edward at his best: I know everybody wants to say Terminator, but I’ve never been a real fan of the franchise. For his very best work, watch American History X, also starring Edward Norton. It’s a hard watch, but it’s relevant in a scary way — a way I wish it wasn’t.
