Trevor – The Good Place

What’s his deal: Trevor, played by the interminably charming Adam Scott, is the boss of the Bad Place. Fans of the show The Good Place understand that is the other destination for folks who don’t make the cut for, well, the good place. Trevor is the single embodiment of everything that is terrible, annoying, toxic, and obnoxious about the human race.

As leader of the show’s version of hell, it is his explicit purpose to make sure folks get the punishment they want, all the while acting like a frat-boy dude-bro who mansplains, hates babies, and probably eat someone else’s food in the work fridge.

Why we love him anyway: It’s a stretch to say we “love” him because there is very little that is redeeming about him. But he is a fan favorite, mostly due to Scott’s real-life magnanimity and willingness to commit to the lowest denominator of a character. He’s just fun to watch. Trevor represents a person’s worst, unfiltered instincts, and it’s kind of freeing to watch him maneuver interpersonal dynamics without the normal societal constructs. I love it so much, and it’s really downright hilarious. Between him and the bad place Janet, they are scratching all our bad behavior itches.

Where to find him: The Good Place is on break now, but you can find season 1 on Netflix. Season 2 is available on NBC’s website. A few episodes are on Hulu, but you can watch the whole thing on demand, as well.
