25 iconic Jurassic Park moments that we will never forget
21. Alan’s speech about raptors
Maybe don’t look up actual Velociraptors because you might be disappointed. Roughly the size of a turkey in actuality, but the “villains” of the series aren’t really as frightening as they’re made out to be. That being said, the speech that Alan Grant gives a child in the middle of the desert still served to remind us that we don’t know what these creatures are capable of.
Jurassic Park starts off innocently enough. Dr. Alan Grant is in the desert and they’re uncovering Velociraptor remains. When a kid makes a comment about how they’re not that scary, Alan does his best to absolutely terrify the child (and the audience).
Maybe it was Sam Neill’s intense stare as he told the story of how raptors would attack their pray or maybe it was his use of the talons. No matter what, we knew that we were in for some trouble. It is the definition of foreshadowing but still, every twist and turn with the raptors terrified and delighted audiences.
Now, they’re friends with a man and the good guys but for years, we knew that you never wanted to turn your back on a raptor. Or at least you didn’t if you wanted to live.
