C.B. Strike Season 2, Episode 1 advance preview: The Silkworm, Part 1

It’s time to start the second story in the C.B. Strike series. Here’s a look at what to expect in the very first episode of what’s technically the second season.

C.B. Strike Season 2, Episode 1 airs tomorrow night. It’s the first half of the second novel in the Cormoran Strike series, titled “The Silkworm.” While it’s technically not the second season, putting it as “Season 2” helps to break up the stories and episodes better.

The first episode will see the case begin. Leonora Quine turns to Strike when her husband has gone missing. Of course, the police won’t listen as it’s not the first time her husband has disappeared, but it’s soon clear that he has been murdered and it turns into a case for Strike to figure out who the murderer is.

Meanwhile, we’ll see what the decision to remain with Strike has done to Robin and Matthew’s relationship. While they’ve not broken up, Matthew clearly isn’t happy that Robin has chosen to remain part of the private detective firm instead of taking the cushy job in HR. In the promo for the episode, Matthew makes it clear that Cormoran isn’t welcome at the wedding at all. Strike doesn’t want her to risk her relationship for a job, but Robin wants to stay with Strike because it’s a job she loves. Will the three ever find a middle ground?

Probably not in this episode. For those who haven’t read the novels yet, we’ll see the first half of the story in C.B. Strike Season 2, Episode 1. Strike will find out just why someone would want to kill the infamous author, Owen Quine—and yes, it’s to do with his latest novel.

Here’s BBC’s promo for the season.
