Josh Brolin read Trump’s tweets as Thanos and it was eerily fitting

While on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Brolin’s Thanos character briefly resurfaced to voice Trump’s tweets. It was both funny and a little daunting.

At this point, it’s pretty safe to assume that Stephen Colbert is the person to watch if you want to see some hysterical roasts of Donald Trump. What makes these moments even better is when he gets other actors in on the action.

On Tuesday, Colbert invited Josh Brolin to his show to promote the Infinity War star’s newest movie Sicario 2: Day of the Soldado. With about a minute left to spare in his interview, Colbert asks Brolin to read some of Trump’s tweets as Thanos, and the results were pretty hilarious. Grabbing a pair of glasses from inside his coat pocket, Brolin jokes that he’s suddenly “Grandpa Thanos” before diving into the role:

His rendition of Trump’s tweets was, of course, scarily accurate and a little unnerving. But luckily he managed to incorporate underlying tones of humor to ease the absolute eeriness of the tweets. So maybe (just maybe) Thanos is a little less frightening than the man running the United States right now.

Last year Colbert did something similar, where he had Andy Serkis appear on the show to rechannel his inner-Sméagol and read some of Trump’s tweets just like Gollum. Kind of makes Gollum not so scary anymore, either.

Shoutout to Stephen Colbert for being a huge fanboy and giving us these hilarious moments. Now, we’ll go sit in a corner and think about how these tweets aren’t actually coming from fictional characters like Thanos or Gollum; they’re coming from a real human being. Oh man.
