We’ll know when Kit Harington is done with Game of Thrones

No need for a social media post for Kit Harington to mark the end of his time on Game of Thrones. We’ll see a much more dramatic change.

We could soon be living in a world where we can’t obsess as easily over Kit Harington’s mane, although the return of Game of Thrones next year will at least make the struggle a little easier. We say all this because, well, per Entertainment Weekly, one of the first things Harington will do once he’s done with the show is to get a pretty dramatic haircut.

Look, that doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Consider how Emilia Clarke has sported dark hair in most of her film appearances, including this year’s Solo: A Star Wars Story, although she’s famous for her Targaryen blonde.

Since Harington’s plan is to “make myself less recognizable as the character and go do and some other things with a completely new look and tone,” per EW, we also suspect that that means no more series like Gunpowder — at least for a little while, anyway.

Speaking as someone who watched Gunpowder, it is really hard to separate Robert Catesby from Jon Snow solely because of the extremely similar hairstyles. Should Harington make a jump to, say, pretty much any other genre, he doesn’t want to be “Jon Snow but in space” or “Jon Snow but a romance hero … ” Wait, he already is kind of the latter on the show, isn’t he?

But that also means that fans will likely have a pretty good indicator of when he’s done filming the series. Granted, he’s not quite on social media as much as some of his other co-stars, but we’re pretty sure that now that this knowledge is out there, fans will be keeping a careful eye on what he does with his hair.
