15 of the weirdest TV shows that’ll have you wondering why they even exist

15. Dog with a Blog

What it is: An updated version of Mr. Ed (kids, ask your parents), this show features a blended family that adopts a talking dog. The kids decide to keep the dog’s ability to speak a secret from their parents and the world for fear the dog might get taken away for science or whatever. Not only does the dog talk, but he maintains a blog about the goings-on of the household.

The yuck factor: As a Disney show, it’s about as bland as it can be. There’s nothing too incendiary about it, and there’s absolutely very little that could be considered questionable about it. That is, if you hate humor and good sense, and have a very low threshold for nonsense and poorly written hijinks.

I get that it’s a kids show, so the bar is set pretty low. But this show is terrible. We know that live-action shows for children can be well done (looking at you Phil of the Future and Even Stevens), but this is just dreck and could be used as a torture device. Don’t even let your children watch it. They might think this is what TV is supposed to be.

Where and how: This show has three seasons of overacting children and scenery-chewing adults, and you can watch all three on Hulu right now.

Congratulations for making it to the bottom of this cringe-worthy list. If you can stomach all of these, then more power to you. And if you’re ever into getting revenge on some people you can’t stand, send them a few of these the next time they ask for TV show recommendations.
