Teresa flips a table – RHONJ
Perhaps the grandmama of all Housewives moments, this table flip has become synonymous with the franchise, and definitely with the New Jersey ladies. Teresa will probably never, ever live it down because, I’ll contend, it is the single best moment of drama in television history. Don’t @ me.
The Jersey ladies have come a long way (mostly) from those early days of brawling at christenings and fist fighting at fashion shows. However, what put this particular installment on the map, and perhaps but the whole franchise on the cultural radar is the infamous dinner in which Teresa Giudice got so angry at former friend Danielle Staub that she attempted to turn over the very table at which they sat.
The origin of the argument is of little value at this point in the mythology, but suffice it to say, Teresa was more enraged than I’ve ever seen a housewife. During this argument, she not only gave us the table flip, but catapulted the phrase “prostitution whore” in the vernacular, making it a stable from there on out.
The table flip was the climax of the argument, but it took a while to get there. Leading up to that moment of television history, she was screaming, out of control, eyes wild, and toggling between banging on the table and aggressively pointing her finger at Danielle.
Teresa has grown a lot as a person since then. Prison and getting certified to teach yoga can do that to you. That woman in the above clip is barely recognizable compared to the woman we see in current episodes, but boy is it fun to go back.
