Jeremy Renner revealed how he felt about Avengers 4. Without saying too much, it’s still giving us hope for a lot more Hawkeye this time around.
Even though we didn’t get any Jeremy Renner in Avengers: Infinity War, have hope, Hawkeye fans. There’s now more hope than ever that we’ll be seeing more of the arrow-wielding hero in the next installment of the Avengers.
In Infinity War, fans were questioning why there was no Hawkeye. During the promotional tour, Jeremy Renner was nowhere to be found. Some thought that Hawkeye would have a surprise appearance in the film anyway — perhaps saving the team at the least minute. That didn’t happen.
Really, Hawkeye was mentioned just once with a simple throwaway line saying that he and Scott Lang (Ant-Man) were off duty to take care of their families. What a terrible explanation, but sure.
In an interview with USA Today, Renner said it was a nice feeling to know that he was so missed by fans who saw Infinity War. Still, he remained cautious not to say too much about his involvement in the next film.
The little that he could say about Avengers 4 was: “Everybody’s got to bite their tongue. But if you like Infinity War, there’s some stuff to come. What I do know is it’s going to be awesome.”
If Renner does know Avengers 4 will be awesome, that certainly means we’ll get a lot more of him, right? A leak of supposed promotional art for the film shows Hawkeye suited up with the rest of the team, so it could be very likely if true.
Set photos from the movie’s filming last year also showed Renner on set along with Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, and others. He even posted a video in January after wrapping up filming for what he (mistakingly) called “Infinity Wars.”
That leaves us wondering if Renner knew that he would be left out of Infinity War completely but didn’t really know what to call the next movie. Or, he was probably going on the whole “Infinity War Parts I and II” naming scheme. Either way, now that we know Hawkeye will be around, he surely has to have a sizeable role in the fourth film since he was left out completely in the last.

While we don’t know exactly what role Hawkeye will play in the next movie, we know he’ll be needed. Let’s not think of him as a last resort, but as the one true hero to save the day. Who knows? Maybe Thanos would have been defeated if Hawkeye had showed up to the party.
