15. S6E9: Tyrion convinces Daenerys to spare Mereen.

As mentioned earlier, one of the greatest things about Tyrion’s relationship with Daenerys is that he’s the only one willing to challenge her. Most of her followers revere her, but he openly acknowledges her flaws. He points them out in the hopes of making her a better queen.

This is exactly what happens when Daenerys returns to Mereen. The slavers are attacking the city, and she is prepared to burn it all to the ground. Alarmed by the decision, Tyrion begs her to consider an alternative plan. Not only does Tyrion’s plan lead to some epic scenes between Daenerys and the slavers, but it allows her to reclaim the city.

It’ a good thing Tyrion’s around to stop Daenerys from becoming “The Mad Queen.”

16. S6E10: Tyrion becomes Hand of the Queen

The most touching scene between Daenerys and Tyrion occurs during the sixth season finale. At Tyrion’s urging, Daenerys ends her relationship with Daario. Tyrion attempts to comfort her, though he’s “terrible at consoling.”

The two then acknowledge that it’s finally happening: They’re finally sailing to Westeros to take the Iron Throne. Tyrion gives Daenerys a speech, telling her how much faith he has in her. Despite his cynicism when it comes to belief, he tells Dany that he believes in her.

And when he swears that his counsel is always hers, she presents a Hand of the Queen pin to him. We knew that it was coming, but the foresight doesn’t make the scene any less heartfelt.
