20 of our favorite Tyrion Lannister moments because we’re going to miss him
11. S5E : “My Valyrian is a bit nostril.”
Daenerys isn’t the only character who doesn’t trust Tyrion at first. In convincing her to work with him, he also must convince her court. That includes Jorah, Daario, Missandei, and Grey Worm. And when Daenerys hops on Drogon and flies off to escape the Sons of the Harpy, it becomes crucial that they get along. How else will they find her?
When they commune to discuss their plans, Missandei thanks the “little man” for saving her life during the Harpy attack. Speaking Valyrian, he tells her that the term she’s looking for is “dwarf.” Then he goes on to add some comedy to the moment, telling her: “Sorry, my Valyrian is a bit nostril.” Luckily, his poor Valyrian didn’t prevent them from leaving the city in his hands.
12. S6E2: “That’s what I do. I drink and I know things.”
One of Tyrion’s most famous lines is “That’s what I do. I drink and I know things.” This phrase has made its way to Game of Thrones merchandise everywhere, from t-shirts to coffee mugs. And it does encapsulate Tyrion’s character pretty perfectly.
After his miserable journey overseas with Varys, it’s nice to finally see Tyrion acting like himself again. And that’s what this moment does: It takes us back to his days of drinking and being clever in King’s Landing. It demonstrates that while he’s changed, he’s still the same character deep down. Fans would likely be very sad if he wasn’t.
