“Do What U Want” by Lady Gaga Feat. Christina Aguilera

The only thing better than a song by one pop diva with a powerful voice is a song by two pop divas with powerful voices!

When Lady Gaga first released her album Artpop, it featured the song “Do What U Want” with R.Kelly. It was released as the album’s second single, but a lot of fans didn’t like that it featured the controversial R&B star. When the video was scrapped for unknown reasons, the single was doomed. That is until a certain belting diva hopped onto the track for a remix.

Gaga teamed up with Christina Aguilera to take this song to a whole new level, and it was miles above the R.Kelly version. With two powerful voices like this together on one track, how could you go wrong, especially with that vocal riff off at the end!

The song is all about giving up your body to your lover; Gaga sings that you can do what you want with her body, but you can’t have her heart or use her mind. She knows how to use her sexuality, and for her, that doesn’t mean having to give up everything to a lover, only her body.

Sexual connotations aside, the song is a fun, R&B-flavoured pop tune, that is best enjoyed while belting it out (probably badly) with a drink in one hand while you wave the other one around for dramatic effect, just like Queen of Belting XTina taught us. Anytime two iconic female pop stars of this caliber get together for a song, you just know it’ll end up on a Pride playlist.
