Avengers 4 set photos reveal time travel to the Battle of New York

While Avengers: Infinity War is still in theaters, that doesn’t seem to stop fans from having plenty of theories about Avengers 4.

With everything that happened in Infinity War — and oh there was a lot — fans can’t get enough of their favorite characters and are already theorizing about what is going to happen in the next installment, Avengers 4.

A set photo for the next Avengers film has surfaced, convincing fans the next movie will return to the famed Battle of New York from 2012’s Avengers. Many of the theories out there include all (or at least most) of the Avengers going back in time to fix the destruction caused by Thanos.

The Battle of New York was a pivotal point for the 2012 film and, honestly, the storyline for our dear Avengers overall. New info and photos coming from Atlanta Magazine note that the battle’s set has been spotted, offering hard evidence that Avengers 4 will have some time travel involved.

Atlanta Magazine shared photos of a backdrop that appears to be around the time Tony was fighting off the Chitauri. Looking over the set photos, we can spot items eerily similar to props from the 2012 film. For example, there’s a sedan that’s the same color and model, and has the same damage, from the Avengers film. Atlanta Magazine also reports another set showed cars with the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo. We all know that org crumbled during Winter Soldier‘s timeline.

ScreenRant’s noted that recent set photos of Tony Stark and Thor add to the time travel possibility. Per the photos, it looks like the God of Thunder and Iron Man could mess with Loki’s arrest at the end of Avengers.

What do these photos mean though for our Avengers and their battle against Thanos? If they could alter events from the Battle of New York, they could alter something — or a few things — that would ultimately foil Thanos’ plan to take out half the universe.

Then again, time travel is never perfect. Altering the events from Avengers could impact a lot of the MCU. What about everything that happened in Spider-Man: Homecoming since the Vulture became such only after the battle? Loki’s storyline could also be impacted heavily (please, please bring Loki back!). Many of the Avengers may not even end up where they were started in Infinity War.

While we can’t know for sure why time travel that far back is happening, Stephen Strange did see millions of possible scenarios. Whatever the Avengers do if they travel back in time, we hope it helps win the fight against Thanos.

Too bad we’ll have to wait until next summer to see the continuation. At least we know that this time, they’ll have Carol Danvers on their side.
