In the wake of Kelly Marie Tran leaving her Instagram, a set of Star Wars fans has come together to show their love with fanart for Rose Tico.
While there’s no way to undo the damage done to Star Wars actress Kelly Marie Tran that’s reportedly led to her leaving Instagram, there are still ways for what seems to be a strong portion of the Star Wars fanbase to show it’s still in her — and Rose Tico’s — corner.
That’s the inspiration behind the new hashtag on Twitter, #FanArtforRose.
Honestly, just scrolling through the messages attached brings a little hope back to the fandom and its strength. It might not necessarily give back all the points it may lose on the Fandom 250, since FanSided as a whole takes a close look at fans’ behavior as part of its rankings, but this is a pretty strong showing that a vast number of fans know that this is not good behavior and are trying to show support for this actress.
Besides, what kind of fandom can both show support and make White Christmas references at the same time?
God help the mister.#FanArtForRose pic.twitter.com/JBwvKaxUgW

Others focused on the younger fans as well as Rose herself:

Rose and porgs is a winning combination, and we don’t care if anyone says otherwise:

Finn, Rose, and BB-8: yet another amazingly cute trio:
shoutout to Kelly Marie Tran and @JohnBoyega for one of the funnest scenes in a Star Wars movie ever!! much love to them both, but especially Kelly who made me fall in love with Rose and her story 💕#FanArtforRose pic.twitter.com/qznXy2mZCL

Actually, just let Rose turn the main trio of the sequel trilogy into a quartet:
Today's warm up was a little bit of #FanArtforRose, because #KellyMarieTran deserves some love right now 🧡 pic.twitter.com/FCSwYLbL2o

Kelly Marie Tran brought a lot of joy and love to the franchise. pic.twitter.com/VbIqo2Fq9z
Disney artist Brian Kesinger also showed his support:
The online treatment of @kellymarietran is deplorable, and yet in the face of hatred and disproportionate negativity she does what other trolls can never do and that is move on. She is truly a hero of the resistance and an inspiration. #FanartForRose pic.twitter.com/OaQmLrxs4l

Quite a few fans used Rose’s line about “saving what we love” as inspiration for their art:
I made this #FanArtforRose because I loved The Last Jedi and can’t believe how terrible some Star Wars “fans” have been acting online. #starwars pic.twitter.com/PAcs8VHe5S

I’m still figuring out how to draw with the Apple Pencil, but wanted to contribute something to #FanArtforRose #TheLastJedi pic.twitter.com/IHG6L6V9qb

The Last Jedi was honestly not my fav movie ever, but one of the few things that I did like was the character of Rose Tico (the other was Admiral Holdo), so how dare people say she was pointless? >:c #FanArtforRose #WeLoveYouKellyTran pic.twitter.com/K8KC89hOQ7

But Rose even in her First Order disguise got some love too:

Why yes, this is Rose holding a lightsaber and getting ready for battle. Why yes, this warms our hearts a little:
Next: What's going on with Kelly Marie Tran, Rose Tico, and Star Wars fans?
Here’s hoping that #FanArtforRose drowns out the negativity.
