J.K. Rowling & Fantastic Beasts 3: What does it mean for the wait between movies?

J.K. Rowling is already working on the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts 3. Does this mean we’ll see a shorter break between movies?
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald saw a two-year break between movies. This isn’t that surprising considering the amount of work that goes into producing such movies. It’s not so easy to roll out movies year after year, especially when there has to be so much focus on quality. The same type of break is expected for Fantastic Beasts 3, which isn’t expected until 2020.
However, J.K. Rowling has said she’s already working on the Fantastic Beasts 3 screenplay. Does this mean the wait could be shortened? After all, the second movie hasn’t even hit theaters yet.

Still a two-year wait for Fantastic Beasts 3
There’s no sign that the release date is going to move. There are only a few number of reasons to bring the date forward: and one of those will be if Warner Bros. believes that there’s a better chance of Fantastic Beasts making them the big bucks compared to other movies being planned or if production on another movie is pushed back.
Rowling is likely just getting ahead. She has a lot of projects on the go this year, including just finishing up her fourth Cormoran Strike novel and planning a non-Harry Potter children’s book. She’ll want to fit everything in where she can and that means working on Fantastic Beasts 3 now.

Plus, it’s more than just the writing. The filming has to be planned out and there’s the need to fit schedules around their actors, all of whom will likely have other projects on the go at the same time. Rowling’s writing really just helps to keep the production on track.
