PBS announced that the Harry Potter series made it on the list of 100 greatest books in the United States. Now it’s time to make the series #1.

The Great American Read showcases the top 100 books in the country and “Harry Potter” has made the list. All seven books have been included together as a series, which has been the case for all other book franchises on the list.

After the first episode, where celebrities, authors, and bloggers got their chance to share their favorite books from the list, voting opened to the public. This is the chance to vote for “Harry Potter” as your #1 book out of all 100. And voting is as simple as 1, 2, 3…

Step 1: Visit The Great American Read website

Go to the official website for the PBS initiative. You’ll see the list of all 100 books that have made the list. They’re in alphabetical order right now, so there’s no need to figure out where it’s placed on The Great American Read list for now.

Step 2: Click vote

Click on the vote just underneath the picture of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.” Remember you’re not voting for the first book only. An image is needed for all books on the list and every series has had the first book image used to make it easier.

Step 3: Confirm your vote

You’ll be asked to confirm your vote for the book. After this, you may be asked to log into the site. Once you’ve logged in the first time, the site will usually remember you. This will depend on your privacy settings and cookies on your computer.

Step 4: GO back the next day to vote

This is why you may need to log in again (you can do it quickly through Facebook). You can go back to the list to vote on a daily basis. You can only vote for “Harry Potter” once a day, but there’s nothing stopping you going in daily to make sure the Boy Who Lived is pushed to the very top of the list.

Now you’ve cast your vote, it’s worth looking at some of the other books on the list. There may be a few others that you want to vote for every now and then to help push to #2, #3, etc. You also don’t need to be based in the U.S. to vote. This is open to all!
