Bethesda live stream reveals Fallout 76 is on the way
By Mia Johnson
Video game studio Bethesda built anticipation for a Fallout game after a live stream went up for nearly 24 hours. Fans are now excited to know Fallout 76 will be the studio’s next release.
Even if it feels like Fallout 4 just came out yesterday, rejoice in knowing that a brand new Fallout game is coming soon.
The studio behind the game, Bethesda, got fans excited a day before the official announcement on Tuesday morning with an old-school “please stand by” card. Bethesda also went live on Twitch with the same title card accompanied by a figure of the Fallout mascot, Vault Boy.
Fans tuned into the stream, hoping the studio would make some kind of announcement that day. Seconds turned into minutes turned into hours as many people anxiously watched the live stream. Nothing much happened during the stream, aside from the occasional cameo from a cute dabbing puppet Vault Boy and a creepy masked Vault Boy during the nighttime stream.
Then finally on Wednesday morning, the studio finally dropped a teaser trailer for the game they’re calling Fallout 76. There’s no official word on the game’s synopsis, though. That will likely be revealed at E3 in June.
Although, fans speculating on Reddit seemed to have noticed that this game takes a step back, noticing the date on the Pipboy is “27 October 2102.” It might take a bit of research to see how it all fits on the Fallout timeline. From the looks of that date, it’s before Fallout 4, which takes place in 2287. Besides that, there are other hidden details that fans can work out. All likely to keep us busy until we get new info.
While excitement surrounds the new game, there are those skeptical about what the gameplay will be like. For example, there’s a concern this version of Fallout could turn into a battle royal-style game like the popular Fortnite. But it’s highly unlikely that Bethesda was able to plan a game so quickly to ride off the coattails of Fortnite’s success.
You can watch the official teaser trailer for Fallout 76 below, and keep an eye out for those hidden details in each shot.

Here’s to hoping Fallout 76 will also run on a new engine, which many complained about in Fallout 4. That could mean fewer glitches and a smoother game. But let’s be honest here… the glitches make the game.
