Hated that Avengers: Infinity War went light on a few characters? According to screenwriters, Cap and Black Widow could be heavily focused on in Avengers 4.
Avengers: Infinity War had so many characters to take care of. Thus, it isn’t surprising that some of our favorites didn’t get the screen time we all thought they deserved. Look at Bucky Barnes who had less than 10 lines.
That being said, it appears as if Avengers 4 is making up for two characters and their lack of screen time. That is that the fourth installment to the Avengers saga is going to focus a lot on Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff.
Screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely told The New York Times as such, noting these two heroes will have “a much bigger role to play” in the next movie.
Black Widow and Captain America have a long history together. After all, in some of the comics, she ends up with Cap’s best friend Bucky.
Is this focal shift because Infinity War focused heavily on Tony Stark? Or are we going to see a drift towards the Bucky/Nat storyline that a lot of fans are longing for?
To be quite honest, the shift just seems necessary since Tony was a pretty heavy player in Infinity War. That being said, Marvel doesn’t have to make Captain America the star of the next movie just because of that.
After Captain America: Civil War, many storylines seem to be completely separated. To have an excuse to focus on one character at a time helps the writers as well as the audience. Also, we’ll definitely be ready for the next film because we missed Cap (and what a bearded Cap he was).
As for the rest of our beloved Avengers, who knows what will happen to them now that Thanos’ snap went and took half of them out… leaving the others devastated and destroyed.
