Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley: The couple that only works sometimes

While everyone has their OTPs in the Harry Potter universe, there is one couple that sometimes doesn’t work. And that’s Ginny Weasley and Harry.

Look, I’m not the biggest fan of Ginny Weasley and Harry Potter. Growing up, I always wanted Harry to be in a relationship with Hermione. So when it seemed as if he was destined to be paired off with Ginny, I was obviously less than pleased.

Flash forward to their relationship in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and it makes a bit more sense. She doesn’t put up with Harry’s nonsense, she makes sure that he stays grounded but still, she lacks a little bit of a personality at times.

One of the biggest problems with Ginny, to me, is that she’s a bit of a Mary Sue. Yes, she had her problems (mainly named Tom Marvolo Riddle) but she still is good at everything. Quidditich? She got it in the bag. School? She’s exceptionally smart. Being a mom? She’s great!

So she seems to balance Harry out but only because she’s so perfect. Again, I recognize that she had her rough spell but then she became this perfect character and at times, it just seemed like she and Harry ended up together because Rowling didn’t want Ron to be alone.

That being said, she does put Harry in his place from time to time, a thing that definitely needs to happen. As much as I love Harry James Potter, his ego needs to be checked more often than not. So maybe she is a good fit for him and she just had to grow into the relationship.

Whatever it may be, I still wish I would have gotten Hermione and Harry.
