Unreal

Any woman who will commit to a “Money Dick Power” tattoo is a boss babe and is probably pretty epic at being single. The two female leads, Rachel and Quinn, represent a yin and a yang to being single, successful, and a woman in the cutthroat world of reality television.

The show is a fictionalized drama about the reality dating show, Everlasting. The show within a show is closely based on the popular dating show The Bachelor. In fact, one of the executive producers of Unreal used to work as a producer on the ABC show, so she’s got all the juicy backstage gossip.

It’s unclear which character is the most autobiographical, but Quinn and Rachel are strong, independent, and not together completely scrupulous. Professionally they will do anything to get good television, and this cynicism and ruthlessness often bleeds over into their personal lives and often gets in the way of healthy, functional relationships.

Where to watch: All three seasons are available on Lifetimes website, and seasons one and two are on Hulu. To maximize your experience, you should watch it concurrently with a season of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette. It’s a nice bit of insider juice.
