Maggie – 2016 Petit Sirah-Zinfandel Blend

The leader of Hilltop has experienced so much hardship throughout the show. She lost her home on the farm. She searched for her sister only to find her dead. And to make it all worse, she saw both her father and husband killed in the most violent of ways.

Despite all of this, Maggie has stayed strong, becoming a leader to a new community and doing her best to make it successful. Plus she was able to find true love in a world taken over by chaos and death — and that’s pretty inspiring.

Thus it is fitting she’s been given a “crowd-pleasing” blend in the 2016 Petit Sirah-Zinfandel. The blend notes that “as a farmer’s daughter, Maggie would have appreciated the care and dedication that went into growing the grapes for this expressive red blend of 60 percent Petite Sirah and 40 percent Zinfandel.” The flavors featured are “bold blackberry and blueberry flavors and medium-firm tannins on the finish.”

Suggested food pairing: Barbecue ribs with baked beans, collard greens, and corn fritters

Suggested episode: We’re going to go way back for this one, all the way to season 2. “Cherokee Rose” is a favorite for fans of Glenn and Maggie. She asks Glenn to join her on a supply run, where she ends up making the first move. In both a romantic and awkward scene, Maggie discovers Glenn picking up condoms in a pharmacy. The two end up getting it on, and in time develop the most notable relationship on The Walking Dead. We’d rather watch episodes like this, diving into some ribs and wine, than think about the fate of Glenn and Maggie seasons later.
