Carol – 2017 Monterey County Syrah Rosé

Of the women receiving a wine blend in their character’s honor, Carol has been around the longest. We first met her as a quiet, anxious, abused wife who we weren’t sure would make it in a world of walkers. Now, Carol is one of the strongest of the original TWD crew, and a woman you absolutely do not want to mess with (walker and humans alike).

Her blend, a 2017 Monterey County Syrah Rosé, accurately describes her as someone who “may come off as soft, almost delicate, at first, but like this Monterey County rosé, she turns out to be anything but once unleashed.”

The blend itself has strawberry and watermelon flavors, with “a complexity and quiet inner strength that few rosés possess.”

Suggested food pairing: Peach-Pecan Cobbler

Suggested episode: “The Grove” is a traumatic episode indeed, so wine and sweets are needed to get through it. Carol and Tyreese take sisters Lizzie and Mika, and baby Judith, to an abandoned home in a pecan grove. Here, they think they find safety and possibly peace. But that quickly goes south when Lizzie reveals herself to be a sociopath who kills her own sister. Carol makes the hard choice of killing Lizzie, determining she is too dangerous to be around others. (A lot of rosé is needed for this viewing.)
