Premiering her directorial debut in a hair salon, Bonnie Wright’s film, Medusa’s Ankle, also features a Harry Potter legend.

We all knew her as Ginny Weasley. But Bonnie Wright has come far since the days of Harry Potter. No longer just an actress, she is a producer, screenwriter and now a director as she premiered her directorial debut, Medusa’s Ankle.

According to Wright, the film is about “the initiate experience” a person has while sitting in the hairdressers. The film focuses on Susannah, played by Kerry Fox, and hairdresser Lucian, played by fellow Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs, who we all recognize as Lucius Malfoy.

The underlying message of the film is that although some enjoy the experience of the hairdressers not all do. In our characters Susannah’s experience, she is the latter. Someone who does not enjoy the experience and as the film goes on she sees herself becoming older and more irrelevant as Lucian, the hairdresser, makes it more about him

This experience is exactly why Wright chose a hair salon to be the place to premiere her film. She chose the Sincil Salon in Lincoln. A real salon, with real customers. The idea being that the film would be much more relatable.
