25 shows to watch if you like Riverdale

My So-Called Life
Tragically, this show only had one season, but My So-Called Life is one of the most impactful shows about adolescents. Riverdale takes cues from this show in that it explores the inner emotional life of teenagers and takes it very, very seriously.
The premise: A moody and sensitive young lady develops a massive crush on a boy far out of her league who treats her terribly.
Angela Chase, played by a very young Claire Danes, pines over the cutest boy in the universe, Jordan Catalano. I can’t say I blame her because Jared Leto s everything, even with his puka shell necklace and shearling coat. Most of the action of the first and only season concerns itself with Angela’s secret crush on Jordan and trying to get him to notice her.
Why you’ll like it: It’s sweet and heartfelt — dare I say “poignant?” Angela Chase is all of us, even all of us grown women, feeling silly and insecure over our feelings for a crush. Angela and I were the same age when this show came out, and I identify with her just as much as I did back then.
Where to find it: The only season is on Hulu. I can absolutely promise it will break your heart, but in the very best way imaginable.
