The Harry Potter book series is among the novels named as America’s Top 100 books. Find out why it’s so beloved and how to vote in The Great American Read live tonight.

The Great American Read is a new PBS series focused on the list of 100 books unveiled as the best in the country. In the eight-part series, fans will delve into the worlds of the 100 books, some of them one-off books and others complete series. Harry Potter made it onto the list and you’ll get to see just why.

Starting with a two-hour special tonight, celebrities, authors, and bloggers will be among some of the guests speaking about their favorite books. These are children’s classics, fun young adult novels, and those for the older generations. There is literally something for all on the list and PBS hopes that this will lead to more people reading all the novels on the list.

During the eight episodes, fans will hear why these books have made it to the list. It’s a look at what the books mean to individuals, the worlds they’ve created, and what they can do for societies.

Throughout the series, audiences will get to vote on their favorite book. The votes will take place over the summer and will be tallied up in October for the final episode of The Great American Read. This is when the ordered list will be released, with the announcement of the #1 book for Americans.
