Will Jamie Parker take home the Tony for Harry Potter?
With the Tony awards coming up, it is important to look at why Jamie Parker should win for his portrayal of Harry Potter.
Jamie Parker brings the boy who lived to life in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It isn’t surprising that his performance was nominated for a Tony award but as we get closer and closer to the event, it is important to note why he deserves to beat out the likes of Andrew Garfield.
While Andrew is incredible in Angels in America, it is a role that warrants that kind of performance. Kushner’s writing doesn’t really lend itself to less than stellar work. With Cursed Child, it can easily be a bland performance and one that doesn’t really live up to the hype.

Jamie, however, brings an understanding to Harry that no one has really had in the past. He gets what this man has been through, understands that he isn’t just a boy anymore but he still doesn’t know what it means to be a father and a husband. Harry doesn’t really have any kind of ideas about that stuff. Think about it.
Who would he look up to growing up? Men who seemingly were alone. Sirius, Hagrid, Dumbledore, all of them were on their own without a family. So now that Harry has his own, it is a different ball game. Jamie does a great job of bringing that aspect of Harry Potter to the character while still making him the boy we all grew up loving.

Will he take home the Tony? The verdict is still out. He did well in London but here, Andrew Garfield has been taking home a lot of the praise. I don’t necessarily think it is a fair comparison but hopefully, Jamie Parker comes out victorious at the Tony awards this June!
