Talking with ABC News, one of Meghan’s closest friends revealed that Prince Harry’s bride has always been a believer in taking time to help others. Markle’s BFF Janina Gavankar has known Meghan for almost 15 years, calling her “magnetic” and “brilliant.”
When Harry persuaded Markle to travel to Botswana to help with his own philanthropic efforts, she was “pleasantly surprised.” Both Harry and Meghan invest themselves in their humanitarian work. Her friend also pointed out that the former actress has been humble in her efforts to help others rather than seek publicity for her good works:
“[Meghan Markle has] always made time for philanthropic endeavors,” her friend said. “It could be one day helping at a charity event and it could be an entire trip that she’s told nobody about to go help people in India.”
Prince Harry shares that same desire to keep his “good work” under the publicity radar, according to Gavanker, who believes that Meghan’s and Harry’s philanthropic approach to life caused them to fall in love.

Meghan Markle made history when she says “I do” to Prince Harry during their wedding ceremony, pointed out by royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams. As a divorced American actress and activist who is mixed race, Meghan symbolizes a “link between two worlds,” said Fitzwilliams.
The expert on the royal family explained that they represent tradition and ceremonies of the past, while Meghan comes from the entertainment realm. Despite the notable differences, Markle has received a “warm” and “welcoming” attitude from the monarchy, added Fitzwilliams.
