Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall

We do not know what Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall’s hat was made of. We’re not sure it actually matters. What does matter is that this hat is large enough to probably have its own time zone and that it is also kind of the color of cotton candy, and that even her necklace is also sporting a jewel in the middle that is a similar color to both the hat and her dress.

Also, it kind of has the same waves that her hair does. We’re not trying to make a big deal of that, necessarily, but we feel it is necessary to mention it in this haberdashery study.

This is a prime wild hat. Well done.

The well-placed and well-arranged spray on the side that includes plenty of feathers as well as a huge flower! The maximum angle achieved by the brim! (Seriously, this hat could take off on its own without surprising us.) The coordination with her outfit without seeming too overly matchy-matchy! Yes, Oprah’s hat was wild — but, if we dare say, it was wild in the very best way, and we love this entire ensemble.

Karen Spencer, Countess Spencer

Instead of going for width, as many of the other wild hats on this list did, Karen Spencer, Countess Spencer went for height. Oh, did she go for height. She went for so much height, in fact, that between the heels she had on and the hat, she’s a whole half head taller than her husband, Prince Harry’s uncle Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer. That is the mark of a wild hat. (That and the exact match she has to her dress.)
