Christopher Bailey

Speaking of British designers, Burberry’s Christopher Bailey’s name has also come up in discussions. Honestly, there aren’t even any good reasons for the speculation other than some “good sources” in the Daily Mail.

A British designer would look best for Meghan if she hopes to be accepted by the British society, though both she and Harry have proven already to be royal risk takers. Burberry is an iconic English brand, so Meghan would definitely win over a lot of people if Bailey has designed her dress.

Erdem

Erdem is definitely an interesting choice for Meghan Markle’s dress. The designer is one of Meghan’s favorites, one that she has been wearing for years. It would make sense for her to seek out Erdem’s help on her big day, but obviously there’s more to it than just liking a designer, especially when the entire world is watching and speculating.

But Erdem is perfect for more reasons than just being Meghan’s favorite designer. Creative director Erdem Moralıoğlu was born in Canada to a British mother and Turkish father. He studied in Toronto before moving to London to continue his studies in design.

Like we mentioned, wearing a British designer is the obvious choice for Meghan, but she also has a strong connection to Canada after filming Suits in Ontario for years. That would definitely be a cute homage to both the people of England and her original second home of Canada.

Also, Erdem is a favorite of another royal lady: Kate Middleton. She has worn the designer to several royal events, including on her 2016 royal tour of Canada. If that wasn’t enough, speculation intensified when the brand announced they were “staffing up” and bringing their PR in-house, a move that seemed to signify a big project in the works.

Ralph & Russo

If you’re placing bets, Ralph & Russo is the frontrunner and all-but-confirmed to be the designer of Meghan Markle’s wedding dress, at least according to the Daily Mail (so really, nothing is confirmed yet).

The tabloid published their “exclusive” news last week, claiming that the London-based Australian design house was definitely designing Meghan’s gown and even claiming to know which dress she would be wearing. They say it is a “hand-stitched, heavily beaded” gown costing over £100,000. The magazine also published photos of Harry leaving the Ralph & Russo offices in April.

People are so sure that Ralph & Russo will be designing the dress that all bets are off (so ignore what I said about placing your bet now). They noticed so many bets coming in such a small period of time that it tipped off bookmakers that someone must know for a fact that they’re the designer.

Even if Ralph & Russo is definitely the designer, it’s always fun to speculate! We won’t know what Meghan’s dress looks like until Saturday morning, and I’m sure we’re all excited to see the blushing bride make her official entrance into British society in a gown that will definitely cause a worldwide sensation no matter who designs it.
