Okay, but why does any drama need 15 seasons?

Grey’s Anatomy has widely been considered a juggernaut ever since it premiered in 2005. It was applauded for its diverse array of characters and shocking story lines, and was often compared to the hit medical drama ER. But when is enough enough?

The problem is that Grey’s Anatomy still does extremely well in the ratings, despite having fallen from its earlier seasons, and critics still seem to love it. So why cancel a show that is still thriving?

What makes this show’s 15 seasons even more painful is the fact that so many other amazing shows have come and gone on ABC while this show has thrived. Pushing Daisies, Ugly Betty, Agent Carter, Don’t Trust The B—- In Apartment 23 and so many other shows were unique, diverse, and deserving of at least half the seasons that this tired old medical drama has been allowed, but instead they only lasted a few seasons. And that’s only if they were even lucky enough to last more than one.

The show has also produced a handful of spinoffs: Private Practice, Station 19 and the web exclusive Grey’s Anatomy: B-Team. Don’t get us wrong, it’s great to see diverse characters given the time to shine, and we’re all for queen Shonda Rimes making that money, but why do they insist on keeping this show going? It is headed into season 15, and isn’t that enough?

Like Supernatural, Grey’s Anatomy is running out of ideas after so many years. There have been way too many wild story lines and plot twists for the show to be realistic anymore. How could all of these things possibly happen to the same group of doctors at the same hospital?
