There aren’t many moms in Disney movies, but there are some pretty great ones. These are 15 of the best Disney moms who deserve some love this Mother’s Day.
In most Disney movies, the parents don’t survive past the first act. If a parental figure is kept in the story, it’s usually the father. This may be because of what is known as a popular urban legend based on Walt Disney’s own life.
Though there may be a lack of moms represented in Disney, we still feel the moms we picked here deserve to be celebrated for what they brought to the movie and their children within the story. We’ve actually seen a surge in more moms appearing in Disney tales, adding to stories of their kids growing up and helping them become strong, independent people themselves.
Some moms have a strong bond even if they aren’t related to their kids (literally) like Kala from Tarzan. Other moms like Helen Parr, better known as Elastigirl from The Incredibles, may have a tough time gifting the simplest of life lessons, despite having superpowers.
This Mother’s Day, we’ve rounded up 15 of the best Disney moms who deserve more attention than they normally get. Whether they helped their kids save the day, or simply offered a good pep talk, they left a major imprint.
