In fact, there needs to be an entire musical episode

You know what? How about the writers of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt give Jane Krakowski a musical number… by writing an entire musical episode?! It would be perfect!

In the past, a lot of shows have executed musical episodes, such as Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Riverdale, Scrubs, and How I Met Your Mother. It’s fun, and for a show that isn’t always grounded in reality like UKS, it would fit in perfectly.

They wouldn’t even have to explain why everyone was singing. There doesn’t need to be a curse (like on Buffy) or a school musical production (like Riverdale). They could just be singing throughout the episode for absolutely no reason. Kimmy got into Columbia University on a sports scholarship despite only having a GED and missing school for 15 years of her life. So yes, crazier things have happened.

There’s so much talent amongst the cast of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt that it would be criminal not to let them all shine. Plus, the show already features some great Broadway stars. Not only are Krakowski and Tituss Burgess stars on stage, but Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has also featured Derek Klena (star of Anastasia on Broadway) and James Monroe Iglehart (Genie from the original Broadway cast of Aladdin) who plays Titus’ nemesis.

If that wasn’t enough, the show’s creator Tina Fey has also been working on Broadway, on the musical adaptation of Mean Girls, which just earned 12 Tony nominations. Her husband, Jeff Richmond, wrote the music for the musical, and he’s also the composer for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. You see where we’re going with this?
