We want Kimmy to have a happy ending… with Dong

Kimmy Schmidt is the star of the show, so let’s get right to it: she needs a happy ending. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt revolves around her trauma after being trapped in a bunker for 15 years as part of a doomsday cult. She was finally released and sought a new life in New York City. Even after suffering such trauma and constantly being knocked down in the big city, she still remained an eternal optimist, and that’s why we all love her.

Kimmy is constantly dealt a bad hand, but she always manages to come out on top. One of the storylines that occured in the first two seasons was Kimmy’s attempt at dating. She manages to bag herself a rich one with Logan Beekman, which makes Jacqueline’s bratty step-daughter Xan extremely jealous, but Kimmy realizes who her heart truly belongs to: Dong.

No, that’s not us making a dirty joke. If you’ve watched the show, you’ll remember Dong is Kimmy’s Vietnamese friend from her GED class. The two have a complicated relationship and try to date, but it never works out. And then Dong has to get married to stay in the country, and he marries an older woman from their class and stays away from Kimmy so she doesn’t mess up his citizenship.

Kimmy and Dong were so perfect for each other. They were both delightfully ignorant and so adorable together, but the world kept them apart. We would love for Dong to come back in season 4, and finally be ready to let Kimmy in. Of course it won’t be easy, nothing ever is on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, but in the end, we want Kimmy and Dong to at least get another chance at love, without Dong’s fake wife Sonja.
